Users who had already downloaded the early access version can update the app to get the Battlegrounds Mobile India official version.

Battlegrounds Mobile India has been launched in India. The PUBG Mobile alternative’s beta version was available for download in May for pre-registered players. Krafton, the developers, have announced that the Battlegrounds Mobile India official version is available for download on the Google Play Store.

Users who have already downloaded the early access version can update the app to get the official version. Currently, the game is available only for Android smartphone users. There is no need to download the Battlegrounds Mobile India APK from third-party stores. This also means that iPhone users will have to wait until Krafton announces the Battlegrounds Mobile India iOS app. We can expect an official announcement on the same very soon.

Meanwhile, Android users who have downloaded the early access version can visit the app’s Play Store listing and update it. Once downloaded, you can collect the Constable Set (permanent), which is a reward for 10 million downloads from the in-game events section. Krafton has also extended the duration to collect the ‘India ka Battlegrounds’ gift reward, 1 million and 5 million downloads reward till August 19.

The game is very similar to PUBG Mobile with a few changes here and there. The early impressions suggest that aren't many changes in the new game and the ones that have been made are cosmetic like green blood and fully clothed characters. One of the egregious changes however seems to be is the new "Gameplay Management System" that will keep reminding you to maintain your health and give you tips on staying hydrated etc. You can turn off these messages provided you are 18.

Krafton has also announced that you can transfer your data from PUBG Mobile over to the new game and then continue playing. The data will be stored securely with Krafton on its servers in Singapore. It was previously claimed that BGMI is sending data to Tencent servers in China. However, Krafton was quick to respond, releasing a small update that fixes the issue of sending and receiving data from China.

Send high-res WhatsApp videos on the app might become better and easier soon - Hindustan Times

Messaging apps like WhatsApp have always been important and they became all the more indispensable over the last year as the Covid-19 pandemic kept us in our homes. It is important to have a quick, reliable messaging service that you can use every day. As Android Police points out, that’s one of the main reasons why Google “continues to boost its RCS capabilities”. WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging services globally and is super convenient, but it does come with certain limitations. For example, high-resolution video files on WhatsApp always get compressed and get sent as documents on the chat. But this might change soon, a future update might finally bring in quality options for users to pick from.

Spotted by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp beta 2.21.14.6 on Android hints at a feature that brings in the ability to swap the default quality of the video when you are sending it. Currently, as you will see under the “Storage and data” menu, WhatsApp does not allow you to customise the video preferences. This is what is expected to change soon. The latest beta version shows three options to pick from to decide the upload compression of the video you are sending - “Auto”, “Best quality”, and “Data saver”.

The new video sending options coming to WhatsApp, probably soon.

The “Auto” option comes “recommended” and possibly will just continue to send the videos as compressed files over slow data connections. The “Data saver” option is perfect for people who want/need to send videos to others but do not want to eat up all of their monthly data in the process. The “Best quality” option is something that we should look forward to. For now, the only way high-res videos get sent over WhatsApp is in the attached document format. With the new “Best quality” option, users may finally be able to send a video, right from the gallery, without a drop in its quality, even if it takes longer than the other options.

Now, while these new options, particularly the “Best quality” one, are exciting and something many WhatsApp users will look forward to, there is no knowing when this is going to roll out in the stable version on WhatsApp. Since it is currently in beta, WhatsApp is working on it, and it might come soon, but there is no timetable for this yet. WhatsApp’s Android users will have to wait and watch. There is no information about this feature rolling out or being under development for WhatsApp on iOS yet, so we’ll have to wait to find out about that too.

PS5 India Restock Deliveries Under Way - IGN India

PS5 orders placed during the June 23 restock have begun shipping to customers. Several IGN India readers reached out confirming that they’ve already received their PS5s while others have stated they’re en route. Retailers that have shipped PS5 restock orders include Reliance Digital, Games The Shop, ShopAtSC, and Amazon to name a few.

Previously, IGN India reported that Sony had given retail a tentative July 3 ship date. However, we also reported that in the past we’ve seen PS5 orders fulfilled in a day or two after going up for sale. While Sony doesn’t comment on restocks, it’s safe to say that the July 3 date gives the company and its retail partners enough of a buffer zone in the event of logistics and operational issues.

And while the June 23 restock is on the lower side versus the last two in May, sources tell us the next restock is planned for mid-July along with coloured controllers.

Pricing is not finalised yet but Sony is considering a Rs. 500 premium for the Cosmic Red version, while the Midnight Black option should have the same price as the standard white DualSense controller of Rs. 5,990.

This second slate of PS5 restocks in June sold out almost immediately. All retailers seem to have sold out of the console within a couple of minutes of pre-orders going live.

While most Indian retailers went out of stock for the PS5 almost immediately, Amazon India was notably able to hold on to stocks for a few minutes. Retailers like Games The Shop started having problems with their website just in time for the pre-orders to go live.

Microsoft to introduce Dynamic Refresh Rate for Windows 11 laptops - Hindustan Times

With the newly launched Windows 11 just around, dynamic refresh rate or DRR has finally been introduced by Microsoft and it should help improve battery life on laptops.

Higher refresh rate display smartphones have had software-enabled dynamic refresh rate capabilities for a while now as a battery-saving measure and although laptops and PCs have had high refresh rate displays for much longer, it has taken a while for Microsoft to bring dynamic refresh rate to Windows.

As per Mashable, last week, Microsoft made Windows 11 official, bringing with it a higher standard of security, a modernized UI, Start Menu, and Microsoft Store, as well as a number of performance improvements, touch optimizations, and gamer-specific features.

More From This Section

The integration will essentially let Windows 11 dial-up or down the refresh rate of the display based on use frequency to save power. If you have a monitor that supports high refresh rates of at least 120Hz and a GPU with variable refresh rate (VRR) tech like AMD Freesync and/ or NVIDIA GSync, you will be able to turn on the setting in Windows 11.

Once turned on, DRR will actively and automatically swap between a 60Hz refresh rate and the higher 120Hz refresh rate depending on the task that the app lets you do.

While tasks like typing out an email or working on Photoshop could run at the lower 60Hz refresh rate without issue, browsing through a social media app, or doing a sketch, DRR will switch up to a higher refresh rate for a better experience.

Of course, this is all dependent on whether or not the user's display supports a higher refresh rate, to begin with since it won't magically make a 60Hz display a 120Hz one. It's also worth noting that Microsoft's DRR isn't VRR for the app, despite the fact that they work in similar ways.

While VRR refers to the general ability for displays to adjust refresh rate on the fly, DRR is a Windows-specific feature that informs VRR-capable displays when to vary the refresh rate. VRR relies on your display hardware to switch refresh rates, while DRR is a software implementation that controls when to automatically switch refresh rates.

Samsung and NatGeo use a Galaxy S21 Ultra to record 8K underwater video of tiger sharks - GSMArena.com news - GSMArena.com

Last year Samsung published an 8K video from the Arctic Circle shot on a Galaxy S20+. However, the phone stayed above the freezing waters. This year the company partnered with National Geographic Traveller India to do the opposite – capture 8K footage beneath the warm waters of the Maldives.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra was in the hands of NatGeo Explorer Malaika Vaz, who traveled to Fuvahmulah Island, aka Shark Island. The phone was used to shoot 8K footage and photos, which were used in the video below.

A few things to know before you attempt such a dive. First, Vaz is a professional with a lot of experience filming wildlife. Second, the phone’s IP68 water resistance rating is for fresh water only (and then only up to 1.5m depth). As you can see in the video, for going deep into salt water, you’ll need a case.

Anyway, most phones allow you to snap photos while recording video, but having 8K footage makes things easier, since you can do it after the fact – a single frame of 8K video has 32MP resolution, making it a high resolution photo in its own right.

And you can see Vaz making use of that option in the video, as well as just snapping a few stills. NatGeo Traveller posted some of the photos (though, unfortunately, not at full resolution):

“While filming underwater in the Maldives, I was surrounded by tiger sharks, Hawksbill turtles, schools of fish, and coral, and I was able to capture super-high-resolution video footage of these species almost effortlessly. The Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G’s 8K Video Snap allowed me to focus on filming sharks with the confidence that I would never miss an opportunity for a great set of images! As a National Geographic Explorer and filmmaker, I would say that my experience filming with the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G has been beyond special,” said Malaika Vaz.
