‘Among Us VR’ Gets First Gameplay Trailer, Coming to Quest & PC VR This Holiday, PSVR 2 Eventually - Road to VR

Party game sensation Among Us has been known to be getting a full-blown VR version since late last year but now we’re getting our first good look at some gameplay. Developer Schell Games has also floated a ‘holiday 2022’ release date for the game on Quest and PC VR. The studio also says the game will launch on PSVR 2 “when the headset is released.”

Today during the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase veteran VR developer Schell Games revealed the first look at Among Us VR gameplay.

And although it’s pretty much exactly what you’d expect if you played the original top-down version of the game, I’ve gotta say—the trailer really sells how much more intense the game could be in immersive VR.

If you’ve never played the original, Among Us is a party game where a group of 4–10 players are stuck on a spaceship while trying to figure out who among them is the ‘imposter’. The imposter’s goal is to kill all the other players without getting found out. The other players take votes on who is the imposter and have to work together to smoke them out before it’s too late.

The game’s basic 2D graphics are just a backdrop to the star of the show which is the fun social dynamics, teamwork, and betrayal that emerge from the simple premise. But in VR, the game is likely to feel much more personal… and maybe even a bit scary as you hear the pitter-patter of footsteps behind you and wonder whether you’re about to see a friendly face or meet your doom.

Though the trailer above makes it clear that Among Us VR will stick closely to the layout and essence of the original map, we still haven’t gotten a good look at how the ‘tasks’ will play in VR. It’s not clear yet if the developer will simply adopt the original tasks, create new ones specific to VR, or something in between. We also don’t know if all of the original game’s maps will make it to the VR version of just a subset of them. We’ve reached out to the studio for more info.

We’ll have to wait a little while yet if we want to find out first hand—Schell Games says Among Us VR is set for a holiday 2022 release date on Quest to and Oculus PC. The game is also set to launch on PSVR 2 whenever the headset ends up launching.

New Microsoft 11 feature: If there was one MacOS feature Windows fans have wanted to see in Windows 11 it was the Quick Look feature. The Quick Look feature in MacOS lets users take a preview of a file, whether it is an image, video, PDF or any other kind of file, before opening it. While File Explorer on Windows 11 has this feature called preview panel, it is not as simple to use and is not very intuitive. Understanding the needs of its user base, Microsoft is finally coming out with a feature called ‘Peek’ which will allow you to seamlessly preview images and texts. Read on to know what it is and how you can use it too.

Checking out a preview without opening can be a very important feature. Not only does it allow you to quickly view and scan through files, but you can also avoid viruses by not opening files sent from unreliable sources. For those, who have not used MacOS, you can think of this feature very similar to image previews on Instagram. When you are on your own or someone else’s profile on Instagram and you long press an image, you see a hovering preview of the image without actually opening it. That is exactly how Quick Look works as well.

New Windows 11 feature will let you preview files with ease

This new Windows 11 feature will be delivered via Microsoft PowerToys and will not be an in-built feature into the OS. It will also be available for Windows 10. Microsoft PowerToys is a set of freeware system utilities programs designed for users who do a lot of technical work on the PC and require advanced tools. These programs add or change features to maximize productivity or add more customization. You can download PowerToys from Github for free.

This feature of ‘Peek’ will be added to PowerToys soon and users will be able to easily preview their files. In fact, you will be able to see the previews by just a click of the spacebar, exactly how the MacOS functionality works.

To use this feature, you would first need to download Microsoft PowerToys. After that, you can select or highlight a file in File Explorer or desktop and press shift + spacebar to preview the contents of the file. A small pop-up window will open and you will easily get to see the preview.

New State Mobile closed today for maintenance; From new mode to weapons, here's all you will get - HT Tech

New State Mobile will remain temporarily closed for maintenance today. Post update players will be able to see lots of new content including, new mode, weapons, among others. Check details below.

Here is an important update for the New State Mobile players. The Battlegrounds will remain temporarily closed for maintenance on Thursday, April 21. Informing the same, New State tweeted, "The game servers are temporarily closed for maintenance from 00:00 - 06:00 (UTC). Get ready to experience Erangel Extreme, the new weapon MCX, and much more!" It can be noted that the players will not be able to access the game once the maintenance begins. Also, today's update will bring lots of new content.

"The April patch is here! To celebrate all the new and exciting content and collaborations in this update, various rewards and an Erangel Extreme Play event are available, so make sure to log in once the maintenance is over and see what's new on the Battlegrounds!," the game said in a statement. New State Mobile further advised that if the players encounter issues when downloading the update, they can force quit the app or restart their device and try downloading the update again.

The update may become available on store apps later for certain devices. If the update button does not show properly on a store app, New State Mobile players can follow the steps mentioned below:

1. Go to [Google Play] -> Search [NEW STATE MOBILE] -> Tap the [Update] button to download the update.

If you encounter issues while updating the game, go to [Settings -> Application -> Google Play Store -> Storage -> Delete Cache].

2. On the App Store, search for [NEW STATE MOBILE], then tap [Update] to download the update. Tap the Profile icon or your Profile picture (upper-right), then scroll down to see pending updates. Find [NEW STATE MOBILE] and tap update to download the update.

If the update button is not appearing even after a new version of the app is available, close the App Store and then restart the app.

Here are the new contents you will get post the update: From new mode to weapons

1. New Mode: Erangel Extreme BR Mode (48)

It is a new mode where 48 players engage in a round of battle royale that lasts up to 15 minutes. The base rules of BR: Extreme Mode will apply to this mode, but new rules combined with matches designed to be more fast-paced differentiate Erangel Extreme BR from the other modes. This mode features “Erangel Sunset", an exclusive weather effect that showcases Erangel in a different light. Erangel Extreme BR (48) is an official battle royale mode, so players can earn BP, Chicken Medals, and Tier points by playing this mode.

2. New Weapon: MCX

The MCX is an assault rifle (AR) that uses 5.56mm rounds. The weapon has high DPS output due to its high rate of fire. Various attachments can be used on the MCX via the scope, magazine, muzzle, grip, and stock slots.

3. New Weapon Customizations

a. MCX [C1]: Enhanced Suppressor- Players will be able to customize the MCX with an Enhanced Suppressor. This customization applies the following effects to the MCX: increased noise suppression, increase damage, decreased recoil control, using this customization will disable the MCX's muzzle slot.

b. DSR-1 [C2]: Tank Flash Hider- The DSR-1 can now be customized with a Tank Flash Hider. This customization will apply increased damage, decreased vertical recoil control to the DSR-1. Using this customization will disable the DSR-1's muzzle slot.

c. Crossbow [C1]: Magnetic Bomb- This customization will attach magnetic bombs to the crossbow bolt tips. When the crossbow bolt hits a metal object, the bolt will stick to the metal and the bomb will detonate after 5 seconds. The bolt will deal reduced damage if the bomb does not explode.

Apart from the above mentioned, the update will also bring the following to New State Mobile:

1. New weapon attachments like Grenade launcher, Deka Vision (10x).

2. New throwables like Poison Gas Bomb.

3. New items like T-RS, Self- Defibrillator.

4, New in-game functions like Gas Can and Battery Explosions, new exclusive Tactical equipment Slot and Button, Allied Grenade Indicator, and more. You can check the full update list here.

Sony PlayStation 5 Next India Restock Set to Take Place on April 22: Here's How to Order - MySmartPrice

Third URGENT Google Chrome update rolled out! Do this now - HT Tech

Yet another Google Chrome update has been launched to fix the CVE-2022-1364 bug. It can cause Google Chrome browser to crash or trigger an error.

Google has issued its third urgent update for Google Chrome on Thursday, to patch the zero-day vulnerability in the highly-used desktop web browser. The Stable Channel Update introduced version 100.0.4898.127, on macOS, Windows, and Linux. This new update comes with a pair of security fixes, including a "type confusion" vulnerability designated as CVE-2022-1364. Reportedly, the bug is a Type Confusion in V8 vulnerability, which is Google’s open source high-performance JavaScript and WebAssembly engine. Google in one of its blog posts mentioned that the bug is already being exploited in the wild and is actively being used by attackers. Hence, Google has to issue the third emergency update for Google Chrome this year.

This is the type of Google Chrome bug is similar to one that Google patched on March 26. It can cause a browser to crash or trigger an error, which has the potential to allow arbitrary code to be executed.Google wrote, “With a type-confusion flaw, a program will allocate a resource like a pointer or object using one type but later will access the resource using another, incompatible type. In some languages, like C and C++, the vulnerability can result in out-of-bounds memory access.”

According to the Center for internet security, the attackers can even view, change or delete data depending on the privileges associated with the application. If this application has been configured to have fewer user rights on the system, the vulnerability could have less impact on the system.

However, with the new Google Chrome update rolling out the bug will likely get fixed. Do note that the new version of Google Chrome can be updated automatically for the user, but macOS users will have to do it manually. They will be required to go to "Chrome" in the main menu followed by "About Google Chrome" and download the new update. Once the update will be downloaded, click "Relaunch" and the browser will be ready to use.
