It was an interesting day in the world of technology today. On one hand, we saw Huawei and Poco launching their P50 series smartphones and X3 GT smartphone respectively, while on the other hand, we saw the Oppo Reno 6 5G smartphone going on sale in the country. In addition to that, Sony revealed that it has sold 10 million units of its PS5 gaming console so far. So, here are brief descriptions of what created a buzz in the tech world today:
Huawei P50 series smartphones launched
Huawei today launched the Huawei P50 and the Huawei P50 Pro smartphones in China. These newly launched smartphones come with a new and unique pill-shaped camera design and they run on the company’s own HarmonyOS 2 mobile operating system. The Huawei P50 Pro starts at CNY 5,988 ( ₹68,800 approx.) in China while the Huawei P50 starts at CNY 4,488 ( ₹51,600 approx.) in the country.

Poco X3 GT launched
Poco today launched the Poco X3 GT smartphone in Malaysia and Vietnam today. It comes at a starting price of MYR 1,299 ( ₹22,800 approx.) in Malaysia and a price of VND 7,990,000 ( ₹25,800 approx.) in Vietnam.
Oppo Reno 6 5G goes on sale in India
Oppo launched the Oppo Reno 6 smartphone in India earlier this month. It went on sale in India in Aurora and Stellar Black colour variants at a price of ₹29,990. As a part of its first sale, Oppo is offering a bunch of new offers to all its potential customers. The company said that the buyers will get a cashback of up to ₹3,000 on the purchases made via HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank debit cards and EMI transactions until July 31. They will also get discounts on the purchases made via Paytm.
Sony has sold 10 million PS5 consoles
Sony has revealed that it has sold 10 million units of its PS5 gaming console globally as of July 18. In addition to this, Sony revealed that Spider-Man: Miles Morales has sold more than 6.5 million copies since its launch in November last year, while Returnal has sold more than 560,000 copies since its launch in April this year. Similarly, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart has sold more than 1.1 million copies since its launch last month.
Sundar Pichai drops a mail to Google employees
Google CEO Sundar Pichai sent an email to all the employees where he has outlined the plans of how they envision their return to office spaces. Pichai explained in his email that vaccination is the reason why Google is feeling comfortable with opening some of their offices up for employees who want to return to work early. “And I have to say it’s been great to see Googlers brainstorming around whiteboards and enjoying meals in cafes again in the many offices that have already re-opened globally,” Pichai said.
