By Divyanshi Sharma: Earlier this month, everybody was talking about the new social media app in town - Meta's Threads - and it was being looked at an alternative to Elon Musk's Twitter. Mark Zuckerberg had announced Threads at a time when Twitter users were miffed with the micro-blogging platform for introducing a rate limit as well as not allowing those without a Twitter account to view tweets. And within five days of launch, Threads reportedly reached over 100 million sign-ups. The app has added a couple of new updates since then and the recent update will remind you of Twitter. Just like Elon Musk's social media platform, Threads is also launching the Following and For You feeds.

Threads launches feature similar to Twitter
When you log in to Twitter (now called X), you can see two feed options, the Following feed and For You feed. While in the Following feed you will only see tweets from the accounts you follow, the For You feed will show you the tweets based on your interest.
Similarly, Threads will also be dividing your feeds to Following and For You. The feature is available to only some users as of now and is expected to reach more eventually.
"Your feed on Threads allows you to view posts from other profiles, now with two options - For you is a view of your Threads feed that includes a mix of posts from profiles you’ve chosen to follow and recommended accounts. Following will only show posts from people you follow in chronological order," the company said.
Mark Zuckerberg, in a Threads post while replying to a user, also announced the update. When a user asked Zuckerberg to add a Following tab, the Meta CEO replied, "Ask and you shall receive."
Other features announced
Apart from this, Threads is also rolling out the Translations feature. As part of this, the Threads posts in a user's feed will automatically be translated in the language that they are written in and the language settings of the person viewing it. Thus, if you see a thread in a different language, and your language is available as a translation, you can tap the translation button at the bottom right of the post or reply to see it.
Talking about other features that will be a part of the new update, there are some new categories to sort your Activity feed so that you can filter by Follows, Quotes and Reposts. There is also a Follow button on your followers list so that you can easily follow other accounts back. Lastly, you will now be able to see posts you’ve liked in your settings and there is also an option for private accounts to "approve all" follow requests at once.
