Poco, a Xiaomi spin-off brand, is holding two sets of launch events simultaneously on January 11. Globally, it is set to unveil three new smartphones: Poco X6, Poco X6 Pro, and Poco M6 Pro. Only the first two— the X6 and X6 Pro— have been confirmed to launch in India on the same day. They are largely expected to be rebranded Redmis, but powerful ones and so, it goes without saying they pack immense potential. Especially the Poco X6 Pro.
The X6 Pro has been confirmed to launch with the MediaTek Dimensity 8300-Ultra, officially marking the processor’s debut in India. Poco’s global wing has meanwhile spilled the beans on the vanilla version announcing separately that it will come powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chip. If you’ve been following these things and have an eye for detail, connecting the dots would lead you to the conclusion: the X6 Pro could end up being a rebadged Redmi K70E while the X6 could be based on the Redmi Note 13 Pro.
In which case, while the X6 Pro would stand its own ground with a firm footing and eventually, become great value, the X6 could be a tough sell given that the Redmi Note 13 Pro is launching in India first, on January 4. Now, Poco phones usually cost less owing to the fact they are sold primarily online and so, the only saving grace could be its more affordable pricing. But we digress. All this is pure speculation for now, so we’ll just have to wait and watch out on how things pan out for the Poco X6 series.
Poco has been on a launch spree lately launching the Poco C65 and M6 5G in quick succession, but they are budget-centric phones. The X-series is a more premium midrange affair that allows Poco some room to experiment with specs. Mostly these phones are performance-oriented giving buyers access to powerful chips at relatively mainstream prices. Something similar would be expected from the Poco X6 series as well. Stay tuned for more.
