Google Pixel Watch 2 gears up for October 4 launch in India. Here’s everything you need to know! - CNBCTV18

The tech giant, Google, is set to introduce its Pixel Watch 2 in India on October 4, 2023, at the Made by Google event. The product would be available for purchase a day later, that is, October 5, 2023, exclusively on the e-commerce app, Flipkart. Currently, the pricing and other specifications of the new product by Google aren't known. However, some reports have made speculations about the features of Google Pixel Watch 2.

Google's announcement about the Pixel series

On Friday, September 8, Google announced that it'll roll out its Pixel 8 series in India. The tech behemoth shared that Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro models would be available for pre-order exclusively on Flipkart on October 5. Furthermore, the company stated that the Google Pixel Watch 2 would also be available for purchase on the same date.

What are the features of Google Pixel Watch 2?

While the company hasn't revealed specifications about the watch, it has definitely teased the public by sharing a glimpse of its design by posting a video of the product on X. The Pixel Watch 2 might have advanced features compared to the Pixel Watch but it does resemble the model to a great extent. Moreover, the launch of Pixel Watch 2 in India is a notable step by Google since the previous model in the series wasn't launched in the country.

According to various reports, the Google Pixel Watch 2 is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 chipset, most probably the Snapdragon W5 or Snapdragon W5+. This is because a Google Search Console listing suggests that the watch would be powered by the Qualcomm SW5100 SoC. Furthermore, the watch is thought to be operated using the recently launched Wear OS 4.

In addition, it promises a 24-hour battery life accompanied by an always-on display. Therefore, it ought to have better features than the previously launched model despite the similar design. Further, it is expected that four new watches, namely, Accessible, Arc, Analog Bold, and Bold Digital, will be introduced with the launch of Pixel Watch 2 in India. Also, it's estimated that the watch would feature an aluminium body.

PhonePe launches celebrity voice feature with Amitabh Bachchan on its SmartSpeakers - The Siasat Daily

New Delhi: PhonePe has launched a first-of-its-kind celebrity voice feature on its SmartSpeakers in collaboration with the iconic Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan.

This new feature will allow PhonePe SmartSpeakers across India to validate customer payments in Bachchan’s distinct voice. This industry-first celebrity voice feature is currently available in Hindi and English, with plans to roll this out for other languages in the future.

The PhonePe SmartSpeaker was launched a year ago, and since then, four million devices have been used by merchant partners across 19,000 postal codes (covering over 90 per cent of the country).

In what is a true testimony to their popularity, the SmartSpeakers validate 100 crore (1,000 million) transactions across the country. The addition of a celebrity voice, featuring Amitabh Bachchan, will enhance the payment experience for both merchants and customers, making it more interactive than ever before.

“We are delighted to launch a unique celebrity voice feature for our SmartSpeaker for merchant partners across India. Bachchan’s voice has an instant and universal recall, and it resonates with millions of Indians across the country,” said Vivek Lohcheb, Head of Offline Business at PhonePe.

“Being a popular Indian app used by one in four Indians, we believe this collaboration will further elevate the popularity of the PhonePe SmartSpeaker for merchants and customers alike,” he added.

To enable this new feature from the PhonePe for Business app, merchants will need to first open the PhonePe for Business App and then go to the SmartSpeaker section on the home screen.

Under ‘My SmartSpeaker’, click on ‘SmartSpeaker Voice’ then choose Amitabh Bachchan’s voice in the preferred language and then click on ‘Confirm’ to activate the voice.

The device will get rebooted with the updated language in Bachchan’s voice within a few hours.

Moreover, some of the other features that make PhonePe SmartSpeakers stand out in the market include portability, a best-in-class battery, great audio clarity even in the noisiest of environments, and the compact and versatile form factor, which allows merchants to use it even in the most congested counter spaces.

Earlier merchants using feature phones relied heavily on SMS, but now with the PhonePe SmartSpeakers, their payment validation experience has been significantly eased.

PhonePe SmartSpeakers provide voice payment notifications in multiple Indian languages, with up to four days of battery life, dedicated data connectivity, a dedicated battery level LED indicator for ease of use, audio alerts for low battery levels, and a dedicated replay button for last transaction.

By offering such convenience to merchants, PhonePe is seeing the successful adoption of its SmartSpeakers in the market, thus enabling an increase in digital payments.

Future 'iPhone Ultra' Model Could Capture Spatial Photos and Videos for Vision Pro Headset - MacRumors

A future "iPhone Ultra" model could capture spatial photos and videos to be displayed in Apple's Vision Pro headset, according to a rumor shared by a Weibo account with a proven track record for disclosing accurate information about Apple's plans.

iPhone Ultra in Hand Feature
The camera configuration of a future "‌iPhone Ultra‌" model released after the launch of the Vision Pro headset will reportedly "lead the market to rethink what kind of photos and videos a mobile phone should take." It seems highly likely that the information refers to the capture of spatial photos and videos, a unique feature of the Vision Pro that uses outward-facing cameras to record immersive 3D content.

Spatial videos and photos are designed to have "incredible depth," according to Apple, allowing the user to "see into a moment." Apple says that the feature is designed to allow users to relive their memories like never before. From Apple's press release announcing the Vision Pro headset:

Featuring Apple's first three-dimensional camera, Apple Vision Pro lets users capture, relive, and immerse themselves in favorite memories with Spatial Audio. Every spatial photo and video transports users back to a moment in time, like a celebration with friends or a special family gathering. Users can access their entire photo library on iCloud, and view their photos and videos at a life-size scale with brilliant color and spectacular detail.

Standard photos and videos from an iPhone or another device can still be viewed on the headset, but the 3D images and videos are considerably more immersive and can only be captured using a Vision Pro itself. The feature is so central to the Vision Pro experience that the device has a dedicated mechanical button on the top to activate it.

In light of the latest rumor, it seems possible that this "three-dimensional camera" could be headed to the ‌iPhone‌, likely adding further hardware to the existing rear camera configuration that consists of a main wide camera, telephoto camera, ultra wide camera, LiDAR scanner, and Adaptive True Tone flash. The Weibo user cautioned that additional information about the new ‌iPhone‌ capability is currently incomplete, suggesting that there may be more to follow.

It is also worth noting that the "‌iPhone Ultra‌" moniker has been frequently used across Chinese social media platforms when discussing a future "Pro Max" model following rumors that Apple was planning to rename the device earlier this year. The change is no longer expected to occur this year, but according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple could release a new high-end device called the "‌iPhone Ultra‌," sitting above the "Pro Max" in the lineup, as soon as next year. The Apple Vision Pro headset is set to launch in early 2024.
