LG reveals "world's first" wireless transparent OLED TV - Dezeen

Electronics brand LG has unveiled the Signature OLED T, a television with a transparent screen that was on display at this year's Consumer Electronics Show.

LG has described the Signature OLED T as "the world's first wireless transparent OLED TV".

The television features a 77-inch OLED screen, which stands for organic light-emitting diode and is a technology used in lighting. It facilitates digital displays on products including televisions and smartphones.

Thanks to its transparency, the TV does not need to be placed against the wall like a traditional screen.

Rather, the Signature OLED T can be used as a subtle room divider while switched off, or positioned against a window without compromising its view.

"Practically invisible when turned off, the TV blends into the environment and frees users from the long-standing problem of what to do with the 'big black screen'," said the brand.

LG has called the television "the world's first wireless transparent OLED TV"

The model uses wireless video and audio transmission technology, which is facilitated by LG's Zero Connect Box.

This box sends 4K images and sounds to the TV, allowing users more freedom to place the model anywhere without having to depend on electrical outlets, according to LG.

An artificial intelligence (AI) processor powers the screen's picture quality. Users can pivot between two settings – transparent and opaque – depending on how they would like content to appear on the screen.

"Content displayed on the transparent screen appears to float in the air, yet simultaneously fuses with the surrounding space to create a compelling and atmospheric visual effect," said LG.

Custom widgets were also integrated into the design, including an "info-ticker" on the lower part of the screen that displays information such as weather updates and news alerts, as well as the option to transform the entire screen into an animated fish tank.

The Signature OLED T will be available as a standalone TV or in against-the-wall and wall-mounted options.

It features both transparent and opaque display options

Held in Las Vegas, the Consumer Electronics Show is an annual trade show of the latest technology.

This year, LG is also showcasing a two-legged house robot on wheels that uses AI to operate. Previous editions of the event have seen brands present products ranging from a voice-absorbing facemask by PriestmanGoode to a Hyundai concept for a flying car.

Watch: Samsung's shows “In&Out Flip” foldable concept phone at CES 2024 - Times of India

Samsung has showcased a new foldable screen technology at CES 2024. At the show floor, Samsung displayed its new “In&Out Flip” concept device with a foldable screen that has a form factor similar to the Galaxy Z Flip 5. The concept would enable a clamshell-style foldable smartphone to not only open and shut like a regular flip phone but also bend over backwards.
Unlike the Galaxy Z Flip 5, which shuts inwards, the foldable concept phone is capable of folding both forwards and backwards, which only has an external display. The 360-degree folding display allows users to interact with content on the screen even when it is folded.
Samsung's “In&Out Flip” display is designed to be durable and would eliminate the need for an external display to show off content. As the inner screen will allow users to access their information when the device is folded shut.

Samsung claims to have folded the panels in extreme temperatures ranging from -20 degrees Celsius to 60 degrees Celsius, rubbed them with sand, and immersed them in water. Samsung also bounced basketballs on the foldable panels as part of the durability testing process.
A representative from Samsung Display has stated that In&Out Flip is a new technology that offers an alternative for consumers who prefer bar-shaped smartphones over foldable ones due to their thickness. When the phone is folded outwards, both the front and back screens can be used, which creates a completely new user experience, they added.
Samsung has not yet revealed any plans to use the new “In&Out Flip” display technology in the future Galaxy Z Flip smartphone.
Samsung also showed off the Rollable Flex display that can be extended up to five times its original size. The scroll-like screen technology was first introduced last year in 2023.

iOS 18: Apple gears up to unveil Generative AI into iPhones at WWDC 2024, says Mark Gurman | Mint - Mint

In a tech race against its competitors, Apple is reportedly gearing up to unveil groundbreaking generative AI-based tools for its coveted iPhone series at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024, scheduled for June.

According to insights from Bloomberg's tech guru Mark Gurman in his 'Power On' newsletter (via mysmartprice), Apple's forthcoming iOS 18 update will usher in a new era of artificial intelligence, introducing a host of innovative features designed to enhance user experiences.

The anticipated AI features could include auto-summarization, allowing users to distill lengthy content, and an auto-complete function for apps, streamlining interactions with applications. Furthermore, Apple is said to integrate AI into Apple Music, promising a more personalized and intuitive music streaming experience. The report also hints at the introduction of new AI-based developer tools, providing creators with enhanced capabilities to innovate within the Apple ecosystem.

Gurman reveals that Apple has been diligently developing a proprietary Large Language Model (LLM) named Ajax since early 2023. This advanced model aims to infuse AI capabilities into Apple's flagship products such as Macs and iPhones. The LLM will play a pivotal role in integrating AI into services like Siri, Apple Music, core apps, and more. However, Apple is expected to adopt a cautious approach, opting for a gradual rollout of these features.

The tech giant's visionary roadmap extends beyond 2024, with Gurman projecting a full-scale realization of Apple's AI vision by 2025. This ambitious timeline suggests that not all AI-centric announcements may materialize in the upcoming year, underlining Apple's commitment to methodical and meticulous integration of new technologies.

Beyond AI developments, Gurman provides a glimpse into Apple's broader product strategy. In February, consumers can anticipate the launch of the Apple Vision Pro, a much-anticipated mixed reality headset. March is reportedly set to witness the introduction of refreshed iPad Pros boasting OLED displays and the powerful M3 SoC, alongside the possible debut of a larger 12.9-inch iPad Air.

Additionally, an upgraded Apple TV 4K, equipped with a new chipset, might grace the market in the first half of 2024, according to Gurman.

As the Galaxy S24 Unpacked event on January 17 approaches, the intensity of leaks increases. The latest one comes in the form of two leaked live photos of what appears to be the Galaxy S24 Ultra with some sort of gold paint job.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra

To be frank, we've already seen the Galaxy S24 Ultra in numerous renders and this isn't the first time we've seen it in real-life photos either. However, the images showcase the device in a gold colorway with a matching golden frame. The flat screen and overall design are pretty much confirmed by now too.

With all the reports in the last few months, we already know what to expect, so we hope Samsung was able to keep some things under a tight lid in order to keep things interesting during the event.
