Microsoft Windows 11 Update: Company Begins Testing Updated Windows Ink Feature That Can Let Users Write Any - Jagran English

Microsoft, one of the major technology companies, which is known for adding a variety of new features is now rolling out an upgraded Window Ink with its Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 23481 update to the developer channel.

What Is Windows Ink?

With Windows Ink, a user can use a digital pen (or finger) to write and draw on the computer screen. The program can be used to edit text, make Sticky Notes, and take a screenshot of the desktop, which can then be cropped and marked up before being used to create something new.

"Windows Ink is being modernised to allow users to enable inking directly onto edit fields," Microsoft stated in a blog post. "In addition, we are improving the recognition technology's accuracy and developing a scratch-out gesture for when users need to make changes." The improved capability will allow users to use their pen and handwrite at any place.

Currently, only English (US) is supported by these new Windows Ink enhancements. In an effort to reduce the number of settings for the file manager program, the tech giant is also deleting a few of the outdated options under Folder Options in File Explorer.

"We are starting to distribute a new Focus Session widget to Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels via the Microsoft Store as part of an update to the Clock app (version 11.2305.6.0 and higher)," according to the company.

Users will be able to start and finish focus sessions on their devices easily with the aid of this new widget.

Samsung planning to unveil AR/VR headset sensor for image recognition - Business Standard

Tech giant Samsung is reportedly planning to unveil a new time-of-flight (ToF) sensor for AR/VR (mixed reality) headsets which will feature an on-chip Image Signal Processor (ISP).

"Samsung is planning to unveil a new ToF sensor targeting the VR and AR markets in VLSI 2023. This sensor supports on-chip ISP and is manufactured using a 2-stack process technology," Tipster @Tech_Reve tweeted on Wednesday.

"It can measure distances at speeds of up to 60fps with a maximum range of 5m, all while supporting low power consumption of 188mW."

Last month, it was reported that the tech giant was planning to develop chips for XR (Extended Reality) devices as the company is expected to unveil a new XR headset sometime later this year or the first half of next year.

Meanwhile, in February this year, the South Korean firm announced that it has partnered with Qualcomm and Google to build an ecosystem for XR.

The announcement did not include any specific products under development or a timeline for them but industry experts speculate Samsung might develop XR headsets built on Qualcomm's chipset and Google's operating system.

Instagram goes full 2000s with new music status feature in Notes - 9to5Mac

Instagram continues to have fun with its status feature called Notes. A new update to Notes is adding the ability to set your status to a song – just like instant messenger away messages in the 2000s.

This story is supported by Mosyle, the only Apple Unified Platform. Mosyle is the only solution that fully integrates five different applications on a single Apple-only platform, allowing businesses and schools to easily and automatically deploy, manage, and protect all their Apple devices. Over 38,000 organizations leverage Mosyle solutions to automate the deployment, management, and security of millions of Apple devices daily. Request a FREE account today and discover how you can put your Apple fleet on auto-pilot at a price point that is hard to believe.

“This

Mia Sato reported on Instagram’s new Notes feature for The Verge:

Now, users will be able to attach a 30-second clip of a song to their status update, along with a short caption next to the track. Friends can then tap into the song to listen to the snippet. Instagram is also adding a translation button below Notes for posts in other languages.

If they’re not already, Instagram must begin calling this feature Music Notes. I mean, the name is just sitting there for the taking. Mia adds that Instagram sees 10x usage with its Notes feature among teens than other users.

That must feel like a win considering teens view Facebook as the place for grandparents. Enjoy it while it lasts, IG, kids grow up so fast.

In the meantime, I’ll be reverting back to my teenage roots and setting my Music Note to whatever TRL host Carson Daly just played on MTV.

Back in the present day, Meta is also prepping a Twitter-like microblogging service that looks like the comments section from Instagram. Threads, as The Verge says it may be called, will support the new ActivityPub standard to be interoperable with Mastodon and other federated social networks.

You can now share music on Instagram Notes, plus view translations - TechCrunch

Instagram Notes is today getting its first set of new features following its December 2022 public launch. Currently, Instagram Notes allows users to leave a status message that appears for their Close Friends or mutuals at the top of their inbox. With today’s update, Notes will also support music and translations, according to a post shared by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg via his Instagram Broadcast Channel this morning.

Before, users’ Notes could only include text and emoji, but now they’ll be able to share a 30-second clip of a song, as another way to express themselves. The expectation is that people could use the new Music Notes to share their moods, feelings, or just what favorite song they’ve been listening to lately. In addition to the shared clip, users can add a caption to a Music Note to share their thoughts, too, if they choose.

The company says the song clips will be supported in all markets worldwide where Instagram has music licensing rights.

The other new feature arriving with today’s update is Notes Translations. This feature simply allows users to tap a “See translation” link below a note in a different language in order to have it translated into their own. Instagram already supports translations across other areas of its app, like in Post descriptions, comments, and Reels, so this is simply making that same functionality available to Instagram Notes, as well.

During testing of Notes ahead of its launch late last year, Meta said it found users appreciated having a way to start conversations with friends in a lighthearted way. And, similar to how Twitter prompts users to share “what’s happening?” in its app, Instagram Notes asks users to “Share a thought…” Users can then type out a Note with up to 60 characters of text or emoji, which appears at the top of friends’ inboxes for 24 hours. Replies to Notes then come in through DMs (Direct Messages).

Though a bit under the radar, given the lack of adoption among certain friend groups, Instagram Notes has been allowing the company to experiment with text-based updates ahead of the launch of its Twitter clone, now in active development. In fact, Instagram had considered leveraging Notes as something of a Twitter competitor, The New York Times reported last year. But now that Instagram’s Twitter-like standalone and decentralized social app is being previewed to company employees, it’s unclear how its coming launch will ultimately impact user adoption or the company’s investment in the less prominent Instagram Notes feature.

The new features will begin rolling out today across Instagram’s global install base, but you may not see them immediately, as large-scale rollouts can take time.

iPhone 15 price hike: Big blow for fans! Latest leak reveals what Apple is set to do - HT Tech

iPhone 15 design changes have been repeatedly leaked. Changes are massive and none of them have created any backlash - so far. However, the major concern has been around whether Apple will increase iPhone 15 prices. Much to fans' dismay, this may well have been confirmed by a leading industry commentator.

Dan Ives, Barron's prominent Wedbush analyst, revealed in his new research that the iPhone 15 range will indeed be more expensive than current models. Ives has appeared on CNBC and said that the average selling price for next-gen iPhones will rise.

Ives has a strong track record. He previously warned about iPhone 14 price rises internationally, something Apple subsequently did, but US customers were spared the same increases. However, it is expected to change with the iPhone 15 lineup . Multiple analysts and insiders are claiming price hikes of up to $200, particularly for iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models.

Ives has not given an exact figure, but he is one of the biggest names to go public with his iPhone 15 price hike claims. US buyers will be concerned about this, but the biggest shock will be for international customers who could face their second successive major price hike.
