After the new Nord CE 5G launch, OnePlus is gearing up to launch another smartphone in its Nord series of affordable Android phones. The next OnePlus Nord phone-- the OnePlus Nord 2-- is set to be launching in the coming months. But the OnePlus Nord 2 may surprise smartphone buyers in India. The Nord 2 is reportedly said to be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset. This means that it will be the first smartphone from OnePlus in India that will come without a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip.
While the the Dimensity 1200 chipset from MediaTek comes with a premium and power processor based on 6nm process, buyers and OnePlus fans may have certain reservations about it. The general perception among smartphone buyers in India is that the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset is “more powerful” and offers better battery life when compared to chipsets from MediaTek, Exynos and others.
OnePlus is expected to launch the second edition of the OnePlus Nord in the form of Nord 2 some time later. Reports claim that it may launch in July 2021, but this information is not confirmed yet.
A variant of the OnePlus Nord 2 smartphone was recently spotted on a benchmarking website with 8GB of RAM. The OnePlus Nord 2 is expected to at least feature a triple camera setup with a 6.44-inch AMOLED display along with similar battery and charging specifications that are seen on the OnePlus Nord CE 5G. Of course, there will be support for 5G as well.
