Apple iPhone Cameras Damaged by Motorcycle Vibrations | HYPEBEAST - HYPEBEAST

Apple has now revealed that high-powered motorcycle engines could cause permanent damage to your iPhone camera through their vibrations.

In a statement published on its support page last week, the tech giant explained that iPhone models since the iPhone 7 have incorporated optical image stabilizers as well as closed-loop autofocus system, both of which are designed to keep your images crisp and sharp by preventing motion blurs. While the tech can withstand day-to-day shakes and movement, Apple highlights that strong vibrations from powerful motorcycle engines can degrade and permanently damage these camera systems over time.

“The OIS and closed-loop AF systems in iPhone are designed for durability,” the post reads. “However, as is the case with many consumer electronics that include systems like OIS, long-term direct exposure to high-amplitude vibrations within certain frequency ranges may degrade the performance of these systems and lead to reduced image quality for photos and videos. It is recommended to avoid exposing your iPhone to extended high-amplitude vibrations.”

Despite this, Apple also reassured that the systems would be able to withstand lower grade vibrations from less powerful motorcycle engines, although it still recommends users to purchase vibration-dampening mounts for the phones in order to lower the risk of damage to the cameras.

Elsewhere in tech, Instagram is introducing a “Favorites” feature.
