MacBook Pro 2021 series display resolutions revealed in latest macOS beta - Gizchina.com

This month’s Apple event was mostly focused on the new iPhones and iPad devices. However, the company also introduced the Apple Watch Series 7 and brought news about all its operating systems. Those who are avid consumers of Apple computers will have to wait a little more for new Mac computers. We should see a new event popping out in October or November to reveal the new MacBook Pro series. The new laptops are expected to come with the next generation of Apple’s Silicon. Today, these devices had their display resolutions revealed by the seventh beta of macOS Monterey. Let’s see what the MacBook Pro 2021 series has in tow.

Apple MacBook Pro 2021 series has retina resolution revealed

According to the code of macOS Monterey beta, the MacBook Pro 2021 models will come with 14-inch and 16-inch displays. A couple of new entries in a list of display resolutions in the System Information app show “3,456 x 2,234 Retina” and “3,024 x 1,964 Retina”. Neither of them matches the resolutions of the displays on any current or past Apple product. Therefore, we can just wonder that Apple is preparing the terrain for the upcoming models.

Apparently, these resolutions are indeed for the upcoming 2021 models of the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro. This info comes based on the resolutions themselves and their relationship with each other. If the entries are to be believed, then they confirm an overall increase in the pixel density. It will go up from around 226 pixels per inch on last year’s MacBook Pro 250 pixels per inch. The current 16-inch and 13-inch MacBook Pro native resolutions are 3,072 x 1920 and 2,560 x 1,600 pixels respectively.

The real resolution has been revealed

This will allow for a native 2x Retina as the default setting for these new machines for the sharpest possible image, according to MacRumors. Users will have a variety of display resolution options to choose from. However, the recent MacBook Pro models have scaled default resolutions that fall between the native display resolution and 2x Retina display resolutions. For example, a native resolution of 3072 x 1920 pixels on the current 16-inch MacBook Pro stands as a true 2x Retina Display of 1,536 x 960 pixels. The content on a 16-inch diagonal appears uncomfortably large for most users. As a result Apple ships the machines with a scaled resolution that “looks like 1,702 x 1,120 pixels.

With the improved pixel density, then, users will likely enjoy the experience of a true 2x Retina option. The 16-inch model seems to be the one with a 1,728 x 1117 resolution. The smaller 14-inch model should be the one shipping with a resolution of 1,512 x 982 pixels.

As aforementioned, the new MacBook Pro 2021 series will go official before the end of the year. The new devices should debut with stable macOS Monterey and the new Apple M1X processor.
