Google just fixed Chromebook OS camera bug; Update Chrome OS 100 NOW - HT Tech

Google has finally fixed the Chromebook OS camera issue. Know if you are running on the latest version, if not, update it now.

Software updates are meant to fix the existing bugs and bring new features for a smoother overall experience for users. But what if, instead of fixing the existing problems, a new update brings new bugs! That’s what happened with the last Chrome OS update which left Chromebook cameras broken. Several reports from a number of users have surfaced online claiming that their cameras stopped working after the Chrome OS update. Users took to Reddit to share their experience, while Chromebook Help blog page also shared the Google Chromebook OS camera bug issue users were facing.

The majority of the affected devices are powered by ARM processors, and users allege that it doesn't matter what programme accesses the camera; the webcam simply stops working after updating to the latest Chrome OS 100, Android Police report mentioned. The complaints from users further revealed that the indicator light of the camera activates, and the Chromebook creates a shutter sound, but there are no visuals displayed on the screen. According to the About Chromebooks page, the problem affects at least four laptops: the Acer Chromebook 14, the HP Chromebook x2 11, the Lenovo Duet 5 Chromebook 5, and the Lenovo 10e. But here’s the good news...
