Apple has reportedly started working on the compact iPhone SE 4 and the new leaks suggest major changes as well as a price hike.
It's been a month since Apple launched the new iPhone 14 lineup and now it is being speculated that the tech giant is already working on 4th-gen iPhone SE. The company has so far released three generations of its compact iPhone SE model - iPhone SE, iPhone SE 2 and latest iPhone SE 3 launched earlier this year. And now with reports on iPhone SE 4 doing the rounds, a new leak has suggested major changes as well as price bump. Yes, disappointingly there is likely to be a price hike and new features are going to be scarce.
The next-gen iPhone SE or the iPhone SE 4 will debut as Apple's only compact phone after the company killed off the iPhone Mini models this year. A massive change is coming as far as the design element is concerned. A report suggests that the iPhone SE 4 will retain the design of the iPhone XR. Tipster and YouTube host Jon Prosser during a previous episode of the Geared Up podcast stated, “The SE 4 from what I understand, and I don't think I've said this publicly, is just the iPhone XR.'' If reports are true, then the home button will be absent, as well as there will also be slimmer bezels and even a 6.1-inch display.
Now a new report claims that the phone will sport a notch like design however, it will lack Face ID for some reason. The Chinese leaker Assen has shared that the iPhone SE 4 is likely to feature a side-mounted fingerprint sensor instead of Apple's secure 3D face unlock feature. Additionally, it is also speculated to sport an LCD and not an OLED screen.
Apart from these, iPhone SE 4 is also expected to get a price bump if compared to its predecessor iPhone SE 3. According to reports, its price in China is expected to be somewhere between CNY 4,000 (US$560) and CNY 5,000 (US$700). Comparatively, the iPhone SE 2022 is priced at CNY 3,499 (US$490).
