By Abhik Sengupta: Samsung has announced the launch of the Samsung Galaxy F34 5G in India on August 7. This follows the launch of the Galaxy F54 in early June 2023. Design-wise, both Galaxy F smartphones look similar with vertically stacked triple cameras on the back and soft rounded edges. However, the Galaxy F34 5G will have a waterdrop-style notch on the front for the selfie camera. The teaser poster also reveals the Galaxy F34's green and black colour options and a price tag of under Rs 17,000.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy F34 is already listed on Flipkart, which reveals its key specifications. The phone is a toned-down edition of the Galaxy F54 5G, though it packs some notable hardware. For instance, the phone will come with a 6.4-inch Full-HD sAMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1000 nits peak brightness. The display also has Corning's Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The rear camera system will include a 50-megapixel primary camera with some degree of stabilisation and two more sensors. It is unclear whether Samsung will provide an ultra-wide camera, which many smartphones in this segment have started ditching.
The phone will be powered by a large 6,000mAh battery, promising to deliver two days of backup with conservative usage. With maxed-out settings, users can expect a full-day backup. However, the charging speed could be an issue, as is the case with most Samsung smartphones under Rs 20,000. Additionally, the box will not include a charger.
Being a Samsung phone, we can expect the Galaxy F34 5G to also come with in-house apps for managing Samsung wearables. Recently, Samsung also updated its Wallet, which tokenises and stores your credit and debit cards, to boost digitisation. There is also going to be Knox security support as well. As the name suggests, the phone will be 5G ready.
Samsung's Galaxy F34 5G announcement comes hours after Xiaomi released its affordable 5G-ready Redmi 12 5G in India. Priced at around Rs 15,000, the smartphone offers similar features. These include a 5,000mAh battery with 18W wired charging, a 6.79-inch full-HD+ (1,080 x 2,460 pixels) display with a 90Hz refresh rate, and a 50-megapixel primary sensor. Interestingly, the Redmi 12 5G has a 256GB variant similar to the Samsung Galaxy F34 5G. Its sale in India will begin this week.
